Pick Pocket - one of the class-defining abilities for Rogues. Learned at level four, this ability will let you loot your target without killing it.

* Loot from Pick Pocket is based on target's level and is separate from the loot you get by killing it.
* Pick Pocket doesn't trigger global cooldown and is instant, so you can use it just before an opener (eg. in a macro).
* There's a chance that Pick Pocket will be resisted, which breaks stealth. It doesn't matter if target is Sapped or not.
* Pick Pocket won't work on players.
* You can Pick Pocket in combat, as long as you're stealthed. You can Pick Pocket mobs as the tank is pulling them, without the fear of drawing aggro, even on resisted attempt.
* If you're Pick Pocketing a lot, turn on auto-loot option, so you don't have to click on all the stuff to pick it up.

Pick Pocket may yield gray items, money and lockboxes which contain more trash or Rogue reagents. You can also find healing potions, which are very handy (Super Healing Potions from mobs above level 60).

Pick Pocket is also one of the best means to level up your lock picking skill. Try to Pick Pocket as often as possible and open the found boxes to raise your skill.
